Puppy Paper Caper: Bits and Pieces Everywhere...

An empty roll...
A suspicious trail...
Follow it down the hall...
A blur of fur tells it all...
Elsie Mokete's having a ball!
Poodle-jaws rip and shred
Eskie-paws tear and spread
"Oh, I'm such a clever pup!"
"What do you mean, 'Clean it up'?"
I ripped this up for you to keep!
"I think I'd better have a sleep"
"I had such fun, as you can see..."
"Now warning bells toll for me!

Hope you enjoyed my adventure with the paper.
I sure did!
love, Elsie Mokete

Rainy Summer Sunday

"It's raining, it's pouring,
Elsie Mokete's exploring,
With her short hair cut
She paddles in mud,
On a rainy Slater Street morning."

Hi, Elsie Mokete here. Do you like my new photos?

My upright takes me outside in a torrential downpour so I can experience a real Ontario rain! It feels good after all the heat, but I'm really getting wet...how come if the rain's supposed to feel so good on the skin, he's under an umbrella?

I'm soaking wet now. And starting to get a little chilly. I need a hug to keep me warm. Wouldn't it be fun to pick me up, and hold me close?

One soggy little doggie (I'm looking  at the front door, wanting to go in) and a happy upright who really doesn't mind getting wet.

Hope you enjoy some rain so your garden will grow.

It's the middle of a beautiful, hot summer. Our garden is growing, and I'm ready for  a corn roast!  I've eaten corn-on-the-cob once before. This is my second time. Mmmm...it smells so good. I'd like to gobble it up, but I'm a polite puppy and wait for it to cool.

The first time I ate corn, I was so excited I chewed it up--cob and all. And I made a big mess. It was a lot of fun. That was two weeks ago. I was a baby-puppy then, just learning to eat corn.

Last Saturday was my birthday. I'm one year old and so proud of myself. I'm maturing into a polite, sophisticated dog...sort of.  When I eat corn now, I never chew up the cob. I'm too grown-up to do that! Here's what one-year old puppies do.  First, I lick off the butter.
Then, I hold the corn-on-the-cob with my paws. I pick the niblets off one by one. And I don't chew the cob...well, maybe just a little bit. But I hardly make any mess at all. Sophisticated, eh?
Here's a bowlful of perfectly cleaned cobs...I really didn't eat them all myself. I shared with my uprights. They're pretty sophisticated, and don't eat the cobs either. Hope you enjoy some tasty corn this summer!

I had such an exciting time on Canada Day. I got up early and had coffee and biscotti.  Well, I actually didn't have any coffee. It's not good for puppies. But I did have a tasty treat...
To celebrate Canada's special day, I had a gluten-free pecan biscotti for breakfast! And not just little bites or small pieces, but a whole one all for myself. I sniffed and licked it all over with great joy.
I was a polite puppy. I said, "Woof-woof" (Elsie Mokete-talk for "thank you") I ate the biscotti slowly (sort of)...savoring the flavour in every bite (sort of). It tasted soooooo good. There were holiday fireworks in my tummy! Happy Birthday Canada.

It's time for the annual Tulip Festival in my city, Ottawa. Here I am walking by the flowers beds at the Garden of the Provinces and Territories. Red tulips are my favorite so far! They look so nice in the background with me and my nice white coat in their midst.

These red and white ones reminded me of candy canes. Yum! I tasted one and it wasn't sweet, but it wasn't too bad...so I nibble on another, but got caught so had to quit eating the festival flowers.

Here is a lovely bed of yellow blooms right beside the red ones. I have to have a sniff!

These pale yellow tulips smell a little bit like sugar cookies, or is it my Eskie-poo imagination? Maybe I can give one a little lick, and find out for myself.
Eating the tulips? Not me. I was licking...licking. It was just a little lick. Not a nibble. That petal fell off the stalk into my mouth...honest.
I look at all the visitors enjoying the colours and varieties of tulips. This year we celebrate the 60th Canadian Tulip Festival. It is now the largest tulip festival in the world. And the most fun for an Eskie-poo even if you aren't supposed to eat the exhibits. Let's all celebrate the tulip as a symbol of international friendship.
My friends, the squirrels run through the flower beds when there aren't too many people around. They are quite healthy and well-fed because there are a lot of small fruit trees, berries and nuts around in the park. I tasted some of the wild plums last fall, and I can't wait to try more this year. "Khrrrrrriiiitttt" I like the way the squirrels chatter at me when I run under their favorite trees. I  keep my eye on them when I play.

You can keep an eye on me at play, and come back to visit my blog. Did you enjoy these tulip festival picture? I do lots of fun things, and put pictures and stories in my blog. You can join me in my adventures and be my friend.
                       Bye for now,

Elsie in the Spring

Hi there! I'm happy to meet you. What's your name? My name is Elsie Mokete. Sometimes I'm called Elsie "the Pesky Eski-poo" Mokete. Mokete is an African word in the  Sesotho language. It means "a celebration" and that's what I am! A celebration! I'm full of joyful energy and love to make all kinds of people smile.
Do you know what an Eskie-poo puppy is? I'm called a designer dog!  My father is an American Eskimo dog named Polar. My mother is a miniature Poodle. She's called Kylie.

I love to play in water in the summer, and in the winter, I enjoy the cold and snow. I like to run and jump in the sun and rain. Do you like to play games? I also like treats to chew like this big cookie.
I'm fond of sharing my treats and toys. I'm always happy and wag my tail a lot. I hope you like my photos! Come and visit again so you can see more pictures of me. Do YOU think I'm cute?
